Alpine Aliens...

And here is my take on Case #250 over at CSI .. there are lots of prizes from our sponsors, so come and join in on the fun!!

- I was able to use all of the colours from this case's palette..although the teal version of the blue which is in my sky looks much lighter in the photo...

- Solid White Cardstock
- Clouds
- Sun
- Architectural Elements
- Animals ( my Alien Critters )
- Labels
- Hand drawn elements ( The black outline of the page )
- Stamping ( all of the Alien Critters were stamped )

- As with most of my pages I hope the photo and layout itself tell the better part of the story and in this case I simply added the names of the "Criminals" and when/where the "Crime" took place..!! LOL

There are LOTS of prizes to be won over at CSI...and LOTS of fun playing along with the Challenges..!!
I was happy to be able to use a special "outdoor" photo for this my Niece was married at sunset and outdoors, on their Farm in Ontario, Canada... She's such a beautiful bride and the the photo really captures the closeness of these wonderful ladies...
On with the show..!!

 - I was able to find all the colours from this pretty palette and lots of fussy cutting on an older Kraft Collection in my stash, from My Mind's Eye called Life Stories..

 - Wood.. my title and label on the photo
 - Plaid.. from the paper collection
 - Branches or Twigs
 - Metal.. red metal brad
 - Decorative Border
 - Woodland Animals.. Red Birds

 - Kept it simple by just noting how special it was to be sharing this wonderful day with close friends and family.

Thanks for looking....!!

School Days...

Happy New Year!!
It's actually been almost a year since I worked on a layout, although I did satisfy my creative urges with a fair amount of card making!! I have rejoined the amazing Design Team over at CSI and this is my entry for Challenge #246.
My background was all stamping, allowing me to apply all those yummy colours from the pallet.
Debbi T. has opened up the challenges to being more "Freestyle" for those who feel stymied by following a more traditional set of criteria... I must admit I find that very appealing myself! However I did use the Colour Scheme and items from the Evidence Clues, as follows...
Everyone is welcome to come and play along. There are also some amazing prizes to be won, too!

 -  I really liked the colour combo in this pallet.

 - White Background
 - Swiss Dots
 - Stripes
 - Text Print - stamped
 - Tea Cup
 - Border Punch (Zig Zag by EK Success)
 - Hearts
 - Tag

 - Even though the picture doesn't really need a lot of explaining, I did journal on the back of the layout:
"It makes me smile to see this photo of Liam asleep on top of his homework. It reminds me of his Mom and Uncles adjusting the same way, to being back at school after their summer vacation! "

"I always get a kick out of the adventures the boys get into and on this particular winter day, it was all about spending it being a tourist in their own city.. visiting Rockefeller Centre, to see the Christmas Tree, watch the skaters, visit Santa and have some hot chocolate.. I am so glad they take all these photos and send them along to me..!!"

It's Case # 219 over at CSI and the color palette is just in time for those wonderful and traditional Christmas Hues..!! and as always another great sketch from Emma Stafrace... Hope everyone is looking forward to a Happy and Peaceful Holiday....

- stripes
- holiday stuff
- snowflakes
- metal - brads

My Best Friends Wedding...

This weeks colour palette for Case #218 over at CSI was perfect for these super cute photos of my niece Lorie and her BFF taken just before Lorie's outdoor wedding on her and her hubby's farm... I also used a wonderful sketch featured at Stuck?Sketches ...

- used all of the colours
- dots
- animals
- leaves
- circles
- journal card
- hearts
- clouds
- labels
- journaled about Lorie and her BFF at Lorie's outdoor wedding on her farm

- I created a background matt for the photos by heat embossing with white embossing powder and a distress stamp by Tim Holtz then blending over it  with "scattered straw" distress ink.
- Stamped and fussy cut the birds, flowers, clouds & labels so that I could get just the right colours..
- Created and cut the title with my Cricut Expression
- Outlined the matt with a grey fineliner pen by Recollections.. did a little stitching...added some candy buttons.. stamped the date..
- and that was pretty much it..!!
